Wrestling Myself Back to Writing

I love to exercise. When people tell me they would work out if they had time, my immediate thought is…make the time. If you want to do something and it is important to you….make the time. Apparently I don’t listen to my own advice.

Oh, i make the time to exercise. The area I am struggling with is making time to write. I have been absent from this blog for a few weeks. I’ve had some ideas and I’ve jotted a few notes, but I haven’t taken anything to fruition. I must get back on the horse!

When I initially started this blog I intended to write. However, I quickly realized this could also be an outlet for photography. I have a lot to learn about photography but I enjoy it and decided to start participating in the various challenges. The only problem with that is….I’m not writing.

So here I sit, frustrated with myself and feeling the need for a kick in the rear.

I don’t intend to make some grandiose promise….I will write every day for X amount of time. Or, I will post at least X number of times each week.  But I do intend to make a concerted effort to write and post consistently. I will continue participating in the photo challenges. I’ve really gotten to enjoy that piece of blogging. But it is the writing part that I feel is important for me to do…so I must focus!!

If any of you have suggestions for writing challenges that might be helpful for me to follow and participate in I would appreciate the suggestions.

Thank you all for getting this far in my rant (assuming someone got this far!) I look forward to spending more time scrolling through the fantastically creative work of other bloggers and getting the things that are bouncing around in my head out of my head and onto the page!

Hello, Tree. There are many writing challenges. I will have to go through my reader to find them for you. I have the same problem. It seems like I only have time for one thing and right now it is photography. I haven’t exercised for a while ;-( Anyway, hope you will write more. And I will soon join you… Take care. Helen

Good luck with writing more, Tree. Make the time for it…no excuses 😉 I’ve been entertained by your blog so far, so I’m looking to reading more words from you soon.

Hmm, I’ve for no new advice for you. .. I can’t seem to get an exercise bug, however I can post 5 outta 7 days. My material is growing and happening all around me, I just need to notice it, photo it and post it. Easy-peasy. Riiiiight. Just like a little exercise. .. haha!

It does seem like it should be simple doesn’t? Then I get to the end of the week and realize that challenge date passed, that idea is old news, etc!! But I exercised 5 out of 7 days!!

    Tree,

One of my friends, who is a writer, once suggested that every aspiring writer needs to make a plan to write X amount of hours every day…

I agree with you, however; this seems too grandiose a goal!

Have you considered keeping a journal next to your bed? In the first five minutes of your day jot down notes… And in the last five minutes before you go to sleep jott down notes…

Maybe this will give you some material to pull from for your blog and inspiration for you as you continue your writing endeavors. Keep up the good work!!

    Would love and affection,
    Billy

    Hi Tree,
Such a familiar story! It matches mine almost to a T! I also am in a writing lull but taking lots of photos and staying active. We have had a lot of work to do around the house and work has been busy – my brain just gets too tired to create with words – but I will get back to it and so will you. Billy’s advice is good- even if we are not writing in our blogs, it’s good to still just write. Just get the words on paper, all higgley piggley.
Looking forward to whatever you post – photos or prose!
