Puffs of dirt rose from the infield as the girls shuffled toward the bench.
“We are not out of this tournament.” The coach insisted. “Lift your heads and breathe in some pride. Everyone played a good game.”
The team captain took over and encouraged her teammates to leave that loss in the past.
A deafening noise rang from the bleachers. Everyone stared in disbelief. Blood covered the stands.
A woman’s scream pierced the air . “He shot my husband!”
Jim stood holding the gun, and quietly said, “He called my daughter a loser.”
Its been awhile since I’ve participated in the Friday Fictioneers. I’ve missed it. If you aren’t familiar with the Friday Fictioneers – do yourself a favor and visit Rochelle’s blog Addicted to Purple and see what it is all about.

I’m actually surprised this hasn’t happened yet. And I immediately thought of playing baseball when I saw the photo prompt.
