Friday Fictioneers – tell a complete story, based on a photo prompt, in 100 words or less.
Puffs of dirt rose from the infield as the girls shuffled toward the bench.
“We are not out of this tournament.” The coach insisted. “Lift your heads and breathe in some pride. Everyone played a good game.”
The team captain took over and encouraged her teammates to leave that loss in the past.
A deafening noise rang from the bleachers. Everyone stared in disbelief. Blood covered the stands.
A woman’s scream pierced the air . “He shot my husband!”
Jim stood holding the gun, and quietly said, “He called my daughter a loser.”

I’m actually surprised this hasn’t happened yet. And I immediately thought of playing baseball when I saw the photo prompt.
Me too….I didn’t think of murder…but I did think of baseball!
Wow! What a twiiist!
I was thinking innocent sun brewed ice tea upon looking at the photo. Great story!
Thanks!
Dear Tree,
Totally believable story. If someone could be shot for texting in a theatre, why not?
Welcome back.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you Rochelle. It’s nice to be back!
As for believable….nothing surprises me these days 😦
It is amazing how folk can invest such passion in trivia, but they do.
Good piece.
Thanks
Shocked. But not 😔.
Very good, Tree.👍🏼😍
Thanks!
Yes sadly it’s really not shocking these days 😦
