Laughter is so important. I believe it helps me stay relatively sane in a relatively insane world!
The people in this picture are dear friends of mine (I am the gray-headed girl!) We spend many hours together training to walk 60 miles in 3 days. The 3 Day walk is meant to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. These pictures were taken after completing one of our many fund raisers….a pageant for girls and ladies with developmental disabilities. We are always on such a high after that event. This year we ended up at Sundance Square and for some reason we needed a picture of our team “jumping for joy” over the money we had raised.
We quickly learned that 3 of us (over 50) could no longer jump like we did when we were 16. Who knew? We sure didn’t….we were totally shocked! But we didn’t give up and in the process we found people on the periphery quite entertained!
In this photo I am trying to explain to my teammate…if only he’ll put his foot in my hands I can flip him into the air! Needless to say that didn’t happen…but we did laugh!!

I laugh every day, a lot!! Great shots!
Laughter is great! Thanks Deb!
LOL. Your story brings back some memories… When I was in college, I returned to my high school and participated a 4*100 metres relay. Running was always easy for me when I was in high school, so I thought it would be a piece of cake. I didn’t know that if you hadn’t run for a couple of years, you would lose the ability. I was shock when I realized that I had no control over my legs. 😉 Helen
Yes! In my mind’s eye I can jump just like my volleyball days….but my body strongly disagrees!!
Thanks for sharing Helen…its nice to know we aren’t alone!!
No, no, no… you’ve got it all wrong!
It’s not that you’re older that you can’t jump as high. .. It’s that gravity has just got a stronger pull on you now. … 😉
Ha ha!
LOL…..it certainly does!!!
The only way we ever got air was by jumping off a step! I guess that’s because gravity pulled us to the ground!!

I know how you feel – the spirit is willing, but the body is weak. I’m sure your spirits were leaping 50 feet high. Too bad you can’t get a picture of that! Colleen
It would be a great photo wouldn’t it?!
I hope you are well Colleen…I haven’t heard much lately.
I was running to return a shopping cart today and pretty much realized the same thing – I can’t run like I use to. The shopping cart kept me up! Must be the gray hair. 😉
Fab post, Tree. Good for ALL of you!
That is exactly why I am jealous of people that push their kids in strollers while running! It seems like cheating….does the stroller hold them up?
Do I need a kid or can I just put one of my dogs in the stroller so I can run without falling!??
Maybe it is a gray hair thing!! 🙂
(thanks!)
