365 Days of Photos – Day 8

I snapped this picture quickly while cutting through downtown yesterday. The church you see is the First United Methodist and even though it is a beautiful church it is not the reason I took the picture.

I took the picture because I feel the pristine blue sky is quite deceiving! It has been very cold here the last few days (20’s and 30’s F). On one hand I enjoy the blue skies…they almost make the cold tolerable. On the other hand the blue skies make me think I can run outside in my shorts to do any fun activity…then the bitter cold wind hits and I must run back in!

I know weather is relative. Many of you live in places much colder than Texas. But my reality is…I didn’t move to Texas to be cold! I could’ve stayed up North for this!

Anyway…pristine blue skies always make for a lovely background. Even if it is misleading!

We drove by. Maybe we could take photos of the church together if we get together in Fort Worth. I really like the city. 🙂

You’re right, Tree – beautiful blue skies! I hear parts of Texas are forecasted to get some ice today. Are you in one of them? Cold, cold, cold all over. Crazy weather. Stay warm and safe!

I’m in the DFW metroplex It looks like we may get a little freezing rain over the weekend.
      Weather patterns are getting crazy!
You also stay warm and safe!
Are you experiencing a wintery mix?

We had a mess here on Tuesday – and now below freezing temperatures all week. Ice is nothing new in DC; the frigid temperatures are unusual though. Happy to have my fireplace 🙂

        Fireplaces are nice!!
We tend to get one good ice storm each winter. But it rarely stays cold for too many days in a row. So this is turning out to be a long cold week!

Tree, while reading your post, I look up and see that we have a blue sky today too, which is connected to your blue sky, I am sure ;-). It’s 0 degree now and feels like -24, according to the weather report. I wouldn’t mind to sacrifice a little warmness for a sunny day. Only a little though.
    take care. Helen

Great picture … but it’s the trees that have caught my attention. Some are still green with leaves and others are bare. Interesting. Is that typical of winter in Texas?

Yes Joanne it actually is. We have a lot of evergreen type trees and bushes here. There are some flowers that can make it through our winters too. That is one of the reasons we have such a pitiful autumn.
Too few trees lose their leaves!
