365 Days of photos – Day 364

In April 2000 a tornado hit downtown Fort Worth and the near west side of downtown.

These four metal beams were once supports for a billboard. But Mother Nature bent them useless.DSC_0251

Instead of tearing them down, it was decided to include them in the design of a new post office.DSC_0265

I really like the connection of the bent steel and the mail carrier motto….”Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stay thecourier from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”

365 Days of Photos – Day 8

I snapped this picture quickly while cutting through downtown yesterday. The church you see is the First United Methodist and even though it is a beautiful church it is not the reason I took the picture.

I took the picture because I feel the pristine blue sky is quite deceiving! It has been very cold here the last few days (20’s and 30’s F). On one hand I enjoy the blue skies…they almost make the cold tolerable. On the other hand the blue skies make me think I can run outside in my shorts to do any fun activity…then the bitter cold wind hits and I must run back in!

I know weather is relative. Many of you live in places much colder than Texas. But my reality is…I didn’t move to Texas to be cold! I could’ve stayed up North for this!

Anyway…pristine blue skies always make for a lovely background. Even if it is misleading!
