I went for a bike ride today. I took a new route and ended up going farther than I had planned. After conquering several challenging hills I decided to stop at a gas station to buy a Gatorade. As I stood outside filling my water bottle a man walked by and said, “Nice day for a ride.”
I responded, “Yes, if it weren’t for the headwinds.”
He quickly replied, “It’s February!”
I immediately realized he was right. Why in the world was I complaining about some headwinds? The reality was, I was out riding on February 20. Layering was not required, only shorts and a t-shirt. It was a perfect spring day…in February!

You described my ride yesterday perfectly. I was going all out into the headwind for an hour, not having much fun, until I had the reality check myself … I was outdoors in February on my bike. It was a privilege to be having that experience.
The rest of my ride was with a smile on my face 🙂
I ended my ride the same way….smiles all the way! Of course by that time I was enjoying the wind at my back 😜
HAHAHAHA! I wasn’t going to mention that part 😉 I was FLYING on the way back and it felt wonderful!
No biking for me yet so I’m a bit envious. But we did hit the low 40’s yesterday so that was cool. Or, warm…it’s all perspective. Lol.
I hope you all thaw out soon enough….We’ve had a couple dips down to the 40’s but mostly a mild winter this year 🙂
Good for you! I try to take advantage of the occasional unseasonable weather, too. I’m glad we have a some mild days, it really helps the winter to pass more quickly.
We have enjoyed a very mild winter so far….it actually seems like we skipped winter. I am not complaining 🙂
