Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Any Kind of Camera or Photos of Photographers

This weekend we were at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. As I walked around taking photos of the balloons I remembered Cee’s B&W challenge this week. I looked around and noticed just about every person, as far as I could see, had a camera. So I turned my camera on the other people with cameras.

365 Days of Photos – Day 280

Yesterday we watched the Mass Ascension of balloons at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Today we chased balloons!

We chased them across town….Balloon Chasing

Through neighborhoods….Balloon Chasing

Balloon Chasing

Through the trees….Balloon Chasing

Over hills….Balloon Chasing

Along the mountain range….Balloon Chasing

And my favorite, beyond the cows….Balloon Chasing

We watched them land….Balloon Chasing

We watched them deflate….Balloon Chasing

We watched them work to secure the balloons….Balloon Chasing

And finally, fold the balloons so they could be packed away for the next trip….Balloon Chasing

It was quite the adventure. The excitement of spotting a balloon then racing in its direction in hopes of seeing it land. Of course I had the added excitement of trying to get to the balloons in time to take pictures.

I actually climbed part way out the sunroof, as Tina drove, so I could get pictures….what a blast!

Draw a Bird?

I’ve been talking with Laura at Create Art Everyday. We both have a love of art and a history of not believing we could produce art. She has encouraged me to practice drawing and take time to enjoy the craft.

Earlier this week Laura told me about the “Draw a Bird Day” and suggested I give it a try. So I have!!

When she told me about “Draw a Bird Day” I happened to be eating lunch at my desk. I got out a piece of notebook paper, looked up some bird pictures on the internet and sketched two birds.

First attempt

This morning I pulled out my new sketch book and drew this little guy!

This blog has turned out to be a place where I can step out of my comfort zone and explore my creative side. And here is another step in that direction.

Don’t Let the Day Beat You…

This morning Tina was facing a potentially stressful day….I said to her, “Don’t let the day beat you.”
I thought about that phrase throughout the day and at one point texted it to Tina as a reminder.
I like what those words say.
So often we allow the anger, the stresses, the frustrations…to take over our lives. We let those emotions envelop us and start to control our reactions.
Have you ever felt your day was out of control. Too much to do, not enough time to do it?
A client, a co-worker, a family member treats you poorly or demands one more thing?
So often I forget to breathe. I forget that I get to be in charge. I allow the emotions of my day to take over.
My day doesn’t get to beat me. The negative interactions I experience throughout the day do not get to define my evening. I am worth standing up for myself against the craziness of life and fill my lungs with a refreshing breath and my heart with nothing but joy….I do not have to let my day beat me!

365 Days of Photos – Day 274

Yesterday I posted photos of the court house in Waxahachie Texas. Tonight I am posting photos of the architectural details of the building. I found these faces quite remarkable.

The terra cotta faces were created at Theodore Beilharz’s stone yard in Dallas Texas. The master stone carver was Harry Herley. The Ellis county Court House located in Waxahachie Texas was built in 1895.
