I drive by this field fairly often. I love the brightness of the greens and the island of trees and bales of hay in the middle of the field.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Blur
Just under the wire….
I took this picture earlier today. Normally I would consider it a “throw away” shot. But as soon as I saw it I thought about this week’s challenge….Blur!
The more I looked at it, the more I liked it…blur and all!

H = Hiking
I walk a lot. But I don’t get a chance to “hike” very often. I guess to me hiking is getting away and becoming absorbed in nature. This is one of those things I will jump at the opportunity to do if it presents itself…but I rarely initiate the activity.
This picture was taken a few years ago in New Mexico. I was hiking with my friend Corey and my Pomeranian Chelsea (notice she is peaking out from the backpack!).
365 Days of Photos – Day 97
Back in February my friend and fellow blogger Amy from, The World is a Book, posted a picture of Tarrant County College in downtown Fort Worth. Her angle of the campus was fabulous and she was kind enough to mention me in her post.
Earlier this evening I was biking on the Trinity River Trail and happened past the campus. i thought of Amy and the picture she posted. I decided to stop and get a shot of the campus from the opposite angle that Amy had taken her photo. So here it is…
G = Gorilla
These photos were taken at the Fort Worth Zoo. I think this guy is very handsome!
This guy may not be a “real” gorilla…but he’s cute! He was part of the cheering crowd during the 3 Day walk for breast cancer. The lovely people surrounding him are my dear friends, teammates and fellow walkers.
The A – Z Challenge will run through April. Each day is a different letter and a different photo…I hope you all enjoy!

F = Fifty Plus Years of Friendship
We have another friend that we met in middle school. The three of us have remained close throughout our adult lives. All 3 of our birthdays are within a month and a half. So when we lived closer to each other we made a point to meet up and celebrate…even if we had not seen each other for the year…we always picked up right where we left off.
I know that no matter the distance between us….Lyn, Chelley and I will always share a bond that is impossible to break. And who knows, maybe for our 60th birthdays we’ll climb a mountain!

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Phone
As a child my house had one phone and it hung on the wall in the kitchen. It was rotary dial and had a very long cord so the person talking on it could move around.
Today…my phone contains my schedules, music, photos, games, my thoughts, my text messages, emails, and of course my phonebook!
Visit Cee’s page to see more black & white photos of phones…old and new
E = Easter
Easter, the Christian holiday meant to commemorate the resurrection of Christ. Honestly I’m not sure how this holiday is celebrate in other countries but somehow, here in the United States, we recognize the resurrection through chocolate bunnies and hard boiled eggs dyed with bright colors. Oops…I almost forgot, we also eat a lot of food!
When I moved to Texas I learned about a tradition that I had never experienced in Ohio. Cascaron eggs…AKA Confetti eggs. I have learned that confetti eggs have a long history in Mexico…and this explains why they are so popular in Texas! As neighboring States (state and country to be exact) we share many traditions.
Confetti eggs are just that….real eggs hallowed out and filled with confetti. The eggs are then smashed over the heads of friends and family (I would suggest you never smash a confetti egg over a stranger’s head….really don’t!)
Our house not only enjoyed chocolate candy and decorated hard boiled eggs yesterday, we also played with cascaron eggs. Fortunately we did all of our smashing outside!
Even though we took the messy fun outside….we are still finding confetti on our pillows, on the couch, and on the dog. Maybe by next Easter all the confetti from this year will be cleaned up and we can do it all over again!
