365 Days of Photos – Day 39

Yesterday I completed the Hot Chocolate 15k. I have not been training to run so I joined a group of friends and we walked. We did run short spurts and that certainly made me miss running. Unfortunately my knees are old and I have some strengthening work to do before I attempt to get back at running.

Blogger Joanne Sisco, of My Life Lived Full, mentioned she expected to see photos of smiling faces at the finish…I certainly couldn’t let her down!

There were 12,000 participants.

The finisher cup contained hot chocolate, marshmallows, Rice Crispy Treats, and more unhealthy things. Unfortunately, 3 weeks ago I committed to a plant based diet that does not include these tasty treats….so I gave away what others would eat and patted myself on the back for sticking to the plan!

And now for the smiling faces…

Incase you are wondering I am the old girl on the left with the ice pack on my knee!

365 Days of Photos – Day 37

Took a trip to Dallas today to pick up packets for the Hot Chocolate 15k. One would think when participating in an event called “Hot Chocolate 15k” that the weather would be chilly, we would be bundled up with gloves and winter hats….but no, tomorrow’s low temperature will be 54 and the high 72(F). Hot chocolate will not be necessary, we live in Texas!

This abandon gas station is located in a historic neighborhood. When I see buildings like this I think about the stories, the people, and even the products that once were. I can imagine the rotary phone on the wall and the manual cash register on the counter. I am certain the guy behind the counter knows every person that walks through the door and the young man pumping gas knows every car by sight.

Its an era of simpler times, summer evenings on the front porch and lightening bugs by the thousands.

I got this idea that I wanted to take pictures of a swing set. I could envision several angles. Today I finally saw a swing set that wasn’t swarmed by kids and started playing with photos. Unfortunately before I could take some of the angles I had envisioned the playground was once again over ran by kids….So here is one picture that I think came out ok.

Am I the only one that gets creative ideas stuck in my head…that won’t go away until I act on it?!

365 Day of Photos – Day 32

The Trinity Park is a place I enjoy spending time. The park is next to the Trinity river, a stones throw from downtown Fort Worth.

The painted pillars are under Lancaster Ave and located near the Duck Pond. I’ve admired the art and colorful addition for some time but only recently looked up “Trinity Pillar Project.” I was pleased to learn the project was the brain child of a high school freshman!

I hope you enjoy the photos.
