I saw this patch of dandelions today. I couldn’t help myself, I sat down in the middle of this small plot of grass (in the middle of a parking lot) and started taking pictures with my iPhone 5s.

365 Days of Photos – Day 70
I took my first bike ride of the “Spring” today. It was a 15 mile round trip. My body certainly needs to reacquaint itself with the bike 🙂
I rode out to this wonderful little waterfall that me and one of my walking/biking buddies found last year. It is such a peaceful and beautiful place. This visit was especially nice because we’ve had so much rain lately there was actually water falling over the rocks!
This 2nd picture is of a railroad trestle that crosses the river and bike trail.
The Color Orange!
This week’s photo challenge at The Daily Post is the color orange. As I started searching through my photos I suddenly started questioning my judgement of color. I shot this field of wildflowers last Spring. Once I start looking at the photo….my brain starts questioning my eyes….orange or red? Red or orange?
Pumpkins on the other hand are a given….definitely orange. Well, unless they are gourds….then they might be green or tan or…..well, not orange.
Halloween (an orange season) is my friend Sonya’s favorite season. She has enough Halloween shirts that she can wear a different shirt everyday of October. In this photo Sonya was doing one of the only things she enjoys more than Halloween…..singing. Her stage was inside the Vortex at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth. When you talk (or sing) inside the Vortex, everything echoes……needless to say she had a blast!
And finally….an orange butterfly…and yes, I’m sure he’s orange!
5 Day Black & White Challenge – Day 1
I would like to thank Helen from HHC Blog for inviting me to participate in the 5 Day Black & White photo challenge. The rules are simple:
1) post a black & white photo daily for 5 days (probably the reason for the name of the challenge!)
2) Invite someone different to participate each day. (because no one wants to play alone!)
Apparently the person that invited Helen (Lois from On Pets and Prisoners) started this challenge with a photo of water. Helen followed suit. Helen’s second photo was of a Lotus flower. I decided to follow both their leads and went immediately to a photo of a water lily I took last summer while vacationing in Northern Ontario.
Now for rule #2. This actually turned out to be a little more challenging than I expected. So I have taken a little poet license and decided to do an open invitation. So, if any of you would like to join me and Helen in this challenge I would be excited to welcome you to the party!
Weekly Photo Challenge: Scale
This is my friend Sonya walking through the forest in Northern Ontario. She looks so small compared to the surrounding trees. It seems we are all quite small compared to the overwhelming beauty of Mother Nature.

365 Days of Photos – Day 29
This farm caught my eye this morning. The sun was hitting it just right! So yes indeed, I did a quick detour and took a few pictures before moving on up the highway!
I got very excited when I noticed the horses heading toward the barn for breakfast!
Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me…so these photos were taken with my iPhone 5s
365 Days of Photos – Day 26
We travelled to Ohio Sunday for my Great Aunt’s funeral. We were only there for 24 hours and experienced snow for 20 of those hours!
The snow was quite beautiful and we were quite cold. I didn’t have much time to take pictures and I didn’t have my good camera with me (had to use iPhone 5s) but I couldn’t resist snapping a few quick shots since I rarely get the opportunity to take snow pictures.
It truly was beautiful…but I can honestly say I am thrilled to be back in Texas where the temperatures were near 70 (F) when our plane touched down.

365 Days of Photos – Day 20
I was surprised to notice this tree yesterday while out walking. It appears to have white buds popping out all over. Its been cold (by our standards) for the past couple weeks here in Texas and this week it feels like spring. But spring is at least another month away and we will have several more cold snaps between now and then.
I’ve done a little Google search in an attempt to learn what this tree is…I’ve had no luck. I’m hoping Midwestern Plant Girl might be able to help me out with identification!
